Apollo is a super alpha variety and a descendent of Zeus hops. Itwas first cultivated in 2000. Its huge alpha acid percentage (15-19%) makes it a popular bittering hop for IPAs. It has dank, resinous aromas and flavors, but also some nice bright citrus. Originally it was used as a bittering hop, but has found a recent use as a dual purpose hop. Added late into the brew boil, it is said to provide a strong grapefruit and hoppy note.
